Burrow is a Student-First Housing Dashboard for usage within colleges and universities, targeting community development and student socialization within college Residence Halls through a live database of hall-related information, keeping students up to date on what’s happening within their home.Burrow gives students an all-in-one place to find events, communicate with peers, and take their housing into their own hands with confidence.
Burrow is heavily inspired by first hand experience and academicstatisticsrelating to student retention in academia. As of 2022, Only 76.5% of students who began college in the fall continued their education into the following academic year; with some of the biggest factors in low student persistence being a lack of belonging and lack of access to necessary resources such as financial assistance. Burrow’s features as an application target unique aspects of both the physical space and organizational structure of college ResidenceHalls to build a feeling of solidarity with others and garner relationships, allowing even the most disengaged of residents to build a community that leads to belonging and thus overall higher likelihood to persist.
